Voice in Playback Theatre: Liberating Vocal Capacity on Stage

  • Dawar 16 Adly Cairo Governorate Egypt (map)

The human voice is a powerful instrument that Playback actors can use for evoking atmosphere, meaning and emotional depth. By liberating our authentic voices, we are able to bring a rich dimension of artistry to the stories we enact on stage.

In this workshop, we will experience some of the vast potential that voice offers to Playback actors and musicians. Rather than striving for ‘perfect’ or ‘pleasant’ sound, we will welcome and embrace the multitude of colors and textures our voices are capable of producing. We will also explore how specific Playback Theatre forms can be
enhanced through the stronger presence of voice.
